WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND?

Students are required to have an Acknowledged Qualification in a Professional Body Work Therapy and to have a Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology or an Approved equivalent.
PLEASE NOTE. (Nurses and other health care practitioners are not exempt from this).

Prior to receiving the accredited certification Each Student must submit to one of the course originators.
3 Case studies x 3 treatments, accompanied by 500-word essay.

IT IS EXPECTED THAT ALL STUDENTS WILL: -

A) HAVE STUDIED THE FOLLOWING CORE SUBJECTS:
• Professional Ethics.
• Hygiene and Sterilisation.
• Business Studies.

B) HAVE A CURRENT CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE.
• Photocopy to be supplied.

C) HAVE BEEN QUALIFIED AND PRACTICING THERAPY FOR A MINIMUM OF SIX MONTHS.
• Photocopy to be supplied with application.

THEORY
By the end of the day the student will be able to:

Understand
• The history and development of the therapy.
• The action of the therapy.
• The indications for use and benefits of the therapy.
• The contraindications and when not to use the therapy.

• The anatomy of the systems primarily affected -
a) The Ear.
b) The Nose.
c) The Lymphatic System.
And associated disorders.
• The Holistic application of the therapy.

Describe
• The action of the therapy.
• The therapeutic effects.
• The holistic benefits.
• The therapeutic value of all ingredients.
a) Flax
b) Honey and Beeswax
c) Beta carotene
d) Camomile
e) Sage
f) Hypericum
g) Filter

PRACTICAL
By the end of the day the student will be able to demonstrate:
• The efficient preparation of the work area.
• A competent explanation of the therapy to a client prior to treatment.
• Consultation and assessment procedure.
• Client management before, during and after treatment.
• Give home care advice.
• The correct position for safe performance of therapy.
• Manner of safe application and removal of candle.
• Process of safe removal of candle deposit.
• Auricular massage.

ASSESSMENT, TEST & CASE STUDIES

Assessment
• The Tutor will assess all students during the day and throughout the practical session.

Test.
• Half hour theory paper to evaluate the students understanding of the therapy and the concept involved.
• An external verified marker to grade the paper.

Case Studies.
• 3 Case studies each to consist of 3 treatments.
• Approximately 500 original words on. Your interpretation of the therapy and how you feel in relation to the results achieved.

A certificate will only be awarded on successful completion of the written assessment and case studies.
The judgment of the course originators is final
